The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Rich Burleson. Board members present were Larry Baker, Rich Burleson, Kathy Madonna, Donna Murphy, Kathy Seidling, RC Wilkins and Marty Burleson. Board Advisor, Beryl Baker was also present.

Board Members recorded their volunteer hours on the time sheet.

The Minutes of the June 4, 2019 meeting were approved as presented on the motion of RC, seconded by Kathy S.

The Treasurer’s Report was accepted as presented upon the motion of RC and seconded by Larry. RC also presented the Final Financial Report for “DeathTrap” and “Fremont County Has Talent 2”.

Kathy S. suggested enrolling in Online Banking Bill Pay. It was the consensus of the Board that this would be a good idea and an efficient way to pay bills.

The Board met at City Hall at 4:30 p.m. before the meeting to visit the Archives. The ladies at the Archives have recorded and cataloged many articles and photos for the Rialto. The Board appreciates their time of organizing and recording the history of the Rialto Theater.


Marty and Larry have visited Mohr’s Wood Items to get information on a wall plaque to recognize the donors that have contributed to the renovation of the theater. The Board is still searching for records of past donors so that they can be recognized.

The Florence Police have issued a summons to the person that damaged our handrail. He is to appear in court on July 17, 2019.

The review of Death Trap was very good.

Kathy Kennedy is planning to write a book about the Rialto to commemorate the 100 year anniversary in 2023.

Larry presented a history of the Rialto to the “Ladies of Mary” meeting on June 13, 2019. Larry said the ladies enjoyed it and many had stories of their own about the Rialto.

The Junior Rialto Players 1st Session is in progress. The play “The Ugly Duckling” will be presented by the Junior Players on July 19 at 5:00 p.m. and 7: p.m. and on July 20 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The Board reviewed the Colorado Country Music Awards held last weekend. If the Rialto hosts the event next year, the board discussed how to publicize to get a larger audience and to work with Misty Dawn to help make it more successful.


The Board discussed possible candidates to fill the openings on the Board. Rich and RC will be contacting some individuals that have expressed interest.

Projects Committee

The date to get the floor finished was discussed. Larry will bring some color samples so the Board can decide on the color.

Other projects are:

  • the Green Room expense and proposals for website/grant funding requests
  • Walls of the auditorium, sheet rock, electrical, paint and molding
  • Electrical circuit breaker added to concession room
  • Install curtain/valance across the top of the stage
  • Options for stairways down from the balcony to the alley
  • Ceiling of hallway to restrooms: Paint (colors) and 360 degree photo
  • Grant: resurfacing of floor: materials needed, date to begin. Color, labor & when?
  • Paint colors for walls, balcony, poles, rails, etc.

Play Committee

The play committee will meet Wednesday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m.

Events Committee

Summer Camp 2 for Rialto Junior players Informational meeting for parents will be July 21 @ 2.p.m. Session 2 will be from July 23- August 15 (Tues. and Thurs.)

The next event will be the Pioneer Day Parade on Saturday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m.


The next regular board meeting will be Tuesday, August 13 at 5:30 p.m.
