The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Rich Burleson. Board members present were Larry Baker, Donna Murphy, Kathy Seidling, Steve Steele, Ken Trusty, R.C. Wilkins, Todd Williams and Marty Burleson. Board Advisors Beryl Baker and Lisa Steele mere also present. Ron Hinkle was a guest.
Ron presented to the Board the opportunities that were available for sponsoring the play “Haunted Java” which will be held at the Bell Tower in February. Ron left after his presentation.
Minutes of the November 6, 2018 meeting were unanimously approved upon the motion of R.C. and seconded by Todd.
No decision has been made regarding the ceiling in the hallway to the restrooms.
The New Year’s Eve party committee will contact the Chamber to discuss the decorations and the number of tables and chairs needed. Ken Trusty has offered to help with the decorations. The Rialto is responsible for the decorations and the serving of beer and wine. The Rialto will provide the champagne for the midnight toast.
The workshop for the Business Plan has been set for Tuesday, November 27 at 5:30 p.m.
The Ben Younger Band will perform on Saturday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m. Lisa has ordered postcards advertising the event and will write a contract for the event.
Marty has met with Beth Lenz regarding writing grants. Beth will be contacting funders regarding the grants that would fit the Rialto’s needs. There is another grant writer that Marty will try to contact.
The Board reviewed the Vintage Hitchcock play.
Posters are available for the Ben Younger concert. Admission will be $10.00 and include one beer for $1.00. We need those available to work at the concert.
Rich reported to the Board that the Shiners in Canon City are disbanding. They offered the Pioneer Board 50 tables. Rich has picked up the tables and they are being stored at City Hall. The tables will be used for community events that would require long tables, i.e. Pioneer Board, Rialto, Junktique.
Future projects are on hold pending income.
The Play Committee met on November 19. The committee reviewed the Play Selection Information Process and the New Director Guidelines. Updated copies of the criteria were given to the Board to review before the next Board Meeting. If there are no further changes, the Board will vote on the adoption of these policies.
The play committee decided to change the play “It’s a Wonderful Life” (Radio) that was scheduled for December of 2019. R.C. will be looking for different Christmas Plays to consider for next December.
The committee is continuing to look at bands, concerts, and programs to complete the calendar and work on events for 2019.
