Approval of Minutes: May 12, 2022 – Larry made a motion to accept the minutes, Second – Marc, all in favor, motion passed
Board President Remarks
Carolyn stated that she was pleased with the attendance on the first weekend of Clue and the direction the theater is taking. She sees a lot of team work and direction of theater.
Treasurer’s Report – Carolyn
Carolyn reviewed current financial. Ron ask about payment to Fremont 360, and it was reported paid.
Martie reported that Sarah at Colorado Creatives says that Colorado Oedit grants will be reviewed again starting in June. A new application has been sent to El Pomar for General Operating; and an application to Rawlings for operating during renovation $30,000.
Clue – 5/20 – 5/22 and 5/27 – 5/29 (Jennifer)
Clue first week-end 342 tickets; concessions 946. Jennifer reported word of mouth reviews on line good. Discussion regarding programs for shows and the need to order in advance to save money. Jennifer pointed out that Clue program held a lot of ads for services rendered. The show is still under budget for out of pocket expense.
Discussion regarding additional printing for the second week-end of Clue. Color or Black and White. Programs to be recycled following performances. Motion Marc, Jen 2nd to print 100 color.
Marc thanked Jen for service to the theater and all toasted the sentiment with Harry Potter be-jeweled cupcakes. Applause followed.
Carolyn thanked Ray, for his work on the set design for Clue. Jen praised the light and sound people, and said that many of the Actors, new to the theater, want to come back. Marc pointed out that these are the building blocks for the new Red Brick Players.
Florence City Council Candidate Forums will be at Rialto. Roger Duncan is organizing. We are providing venue, seating and we will get all concessions. Marc wants the theater to show well and suggests tables with white table clothes. Dates; June 1, June 29, and July 13, 5:30 p.m. Table clothes, Martie will ask Susan Fushour for Spark’s matching linen table clothes. Four mics will be used and Charlette will help set up. Open concessions at 5 p.m.
Business After Hours – June 9th the Rialto will host the First Business after hours for Chamber, Thursday. Chamber gives one free ticket for drink.
Red Curtain Local Artist Showcase – 6/4 (Marc)
local music all day; 15 minutes between acts. Doors open at noon with first act, last band end at 9 p.m.
Starpoint would like to rent and use the theater on Sunday, 5th of June. 2 hours. 3-5 p.m. for a MadHatters Tea Party.
Marc/Sue Motion to approve for $200 rent. All approved.
Children’s Theater Camp
Jen reported on a Children’s Theater Camp; 4 weeks in June, June 13-July 14. for 25 kids. Sierra Tatum to run, costumes, tuitions ($300), all covered by a grant managed by a person in Canon City. $20,000 budget grant – profit for Rialto $10,000; kids bring lunch. Pioneer drama for scripts. Anyone working directly with children must have background check. $3700 director; $3700 supervise,
Motion, Ray go for if Tracy provides funding as expected; Marc 2nd. Passed.
Bill Emery – July 1st (Ron)
Levi $200 sponsorship. Two sister ticket distribution flyers ready. Budget estimated $650 profit; 75 tickets estimate.
Savannah Chestnut (Marc/Charlette)
Two shows Elks, full show, Friday and Rialto, Saturday, Intimate night with Savannah Chestnut; Voice contestant. Details to follow.
Old Business –
Martie assigned to check out historic theater; reported that she had looked at 1000s of photos of historic theater interiors. She expected that cream would not be a big color. However, it was, along with Red, gold, blue. Red, which she expected to be the most prominent was actually present in the soft décor (curtains, tapestries, carpet, seating, but not dominant in the hard décor.
Sue Haws expressed a wish to return to the board now that some things have settled with family.
Jen motioned, Ray seconded. Pass
Budget for fiscal year. Carolyn will send via email for online approval of the board.
Breck Film Festival Ron reported that the Breck film festival Director Stephen Kurtz, visited the theater again recently. He would like to hold an event in fall at the Rialto. He will bring all equipment; the event will be a sales tool for the Breck festival and for the Rialto. Providing something we can sell tickets to, and concession. The board would like him to come to board meeting, to discuss, in June if possible.
Online ticket sales – new policy suggested by Carolyn, a sheet of tickets at table; A sign on ticket booth saying if you purchased on line pass through to the ticket table.
Marc suggested a policy that reserved seat expire at curtain time.
Ron discussed need and research to upgrade dumpster. Marc motioned to upgrade as suggested, 2nd Ron. Passed.
Effect Jun 4, Jen resigns from the board. Carolyn thanked.
Discussed email accounts and other accounts Jen has managed. Carolyn will be added; theater ground line voice mail is being checked and that number should be used for business of Rialto where possible.
No additional business items to discuss.
