Mary Poppins is a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on the books by P.L. Travers and the Disney film of the same name. The story takes place in London in 1910 and follows the Banks family. The family is struggling, and their children, Jane and Michael, are desperate for a proper nanny. When their latest nanny quits, Mary Poppins appears and offers her services. Mary Poppins is a mysterious woman who uses a combination of magic and common sense to teach the family how to value each other again. She takes the children on many magical adventures and has a profound effect on them, reconnecting them to imagination, magic, and brings the entire family together.

This is the 60-year anniversary of the classic, Mary Poppins.

Thanks From the Director

I am beyond thrilled to be back in the “Director’s chair” for our production of Mary Poppins. This production also marks a momentous achievement for our production company as Rooted Gypsy’s first musical! This has been a dream realized and I would be remiss to not take this moment to give thanks where it is due.

To my production team, “thank you” is not enough! You have given tirelessly to bring this show to life with me. For your sleepless nights, long work days and ultimately, your hearts, you have my immense gratitude. Thank you for making magic with me!

To my cast & crew, well done! It is always a gamble when you choose a show, not knowing who will come out of the woodwork to fill those roles. You have all risen to the occasion and have blown me away with your time, talents and fervent spirits. Break a leg!

To our sponsors and the Rialto, YOU are the reason there is a show tonight! Without your continued support and partnership, we simply couldn’t do what we do. You are a part of what brings and keeps arts alive in this community and we are so blessed by your giving. Thank you!

To my “roots”, there are no words. For always being a safe place, for sharing me and carrying this dream with me, thank you. You are my favorite thing and I can’t imagine doing this without your help. To the moon and back!

And finally to our audience, this show is for you! Thank you for supporting local, live theater in your community. We hope you enjoy the show as much as we did creating it. Now, sit back and let us transport you to 1910 Edwardian England!
