By preserving its historical charm while incorporating modern amenities, the Rialto will become a venue that bridges the past and the future, fostering a sense of pride and connection among Florence and Fremont County residents and visitors alike.
The Campaign Goals
The Capital Campaign for the Rialto Theater seeks to raise $400,000 in order to complete the $1,600,000 project. These funds will be allocated to the following areas:
- Architectural: Restoring original architectural details and ensuring the building meets modern safety standards.
- Modernization: Installing state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, acoustics, and HVAC to create a comfortable and cutting-edge performance space.
- Accessibility: Making the theater fully ADA-compliant, ensuring that everyone in the community can enjoy its offerings.
- Community Spaces: Adding multi-purpose rooms for workshops, rehearsals, and educational programming.
HVAC and Roofing
The first focus of the rehabilitation work will be addressing the issues that have accumulated over the years. This includes replacing the roof and installing a new HVAC system. The current roof is over 30 years old and over the years has been repaired on an as need basis, but the time has come to replace the roof due to numerous leaks and overall deterioration. The current HVAC system consists of 10 units of which only 1 is operating correctly. Replacing the 10 units is essential to the comfort of the performers and patrons of the theater. These essential repairs will provide a safe and stable environment for future generations to enjoy.
Interior Renovations

Lower-level seating will be moveable, allowing the theater to be rented as a banquet area with tables and seating. Balcony seating will be permanent. The auditorium floor will be replaced with materials that are both durable and visually appealing.
Doors will be installed between the lobby and bathroom hallways to the auditorium. Trim work in the lobby and auditorium will be repaired and/or completed.
The plaster walls of the auditorium will be repaired and painted in period appropriate colors. The balcony walls facing the auditorium will be stenciled. The balcony railing is original to the theater and will be preserved however a “Aqua View” system ensuring the safety of our patrons and maintaining the original railings.
Stage and Technological Upgrades
Improvements to the stage will include a new mechanical curtain system to accommodate modern performances. The front of the stage will be restored with period appropriate trim work. A new set of stairs will also be installed allowing access from the auditorium floor directly to the stage.
To bring the Rialto Theater into the 21st century, the project will also focus on technological upgrades. This includes installing a state-of-the-art sound system and modern lighting equipment. These improvements will not only enhance the quality of performances but also make the theater a versatile venue for a variety of events.
Community Spaces
The rehabilitation project will create a new community space on the upper level. This multipurpose room will be used for workshops, meetings, community activities, and private parties.
